Malaga Cove is the northern corner of Palos Verdes Estates, where the Peninsula meets the coast next to Torrance Beach. It was one of the first parts of Palos Verdes Estates to be built in the 1920s, and Malaga Cove Plaza, with its Mediterranean-style buildings, is still the neighborhood's small center.

Homes here range from original Spanish and Mediterranean homes from the 1920s and 1930s to mid-century houses and newer custom homes. Streets wind through the hills, many lots have ocean or city views, and trails lead down to the rocky shoreline at the cove. Being at the north end of the Peninsula, Malaga Cove is also one of the easier parts of PVE for getting to Torrance, Redondo Beach and the beach cities.

Like the rest of Palos Verdes Estates, Malaga Cove falls under the Palos Verdes Homes Association. Its Art Jury reviews most exterior changes, from additions and roofs to paint and landscaping, in addition to city permits.
