Hollywood Riviera Homes for Sale

The Hollywood Riviera sits at the south end of the beach cities, where the coast meets the Palos Verdes hills. Most of the residential Riviera is in the City of Torrance, roughly south of Pacific Coast Highway and west of Hawthorne Boulevard to the Palos Verdes Estates line. Riviera Village, the shopping and dining district around Catalina Avenue and Avenue I, is in Redondo Beach.

The name goes back to the 1920s, when developer Clifford Reid set out to create a California version of the French Riviera. Today the hillside streets hold mid-century ranch homes, newer custom builds and many homes with ocean or Catalina views. Residents walk down to Riviera Village for dinner and to Torrance Beach and the bluffs for sunsets.

One detail trips up a lot of buyers: many Riviera homes have Redondo Beach mailing addresses and the 90277 ZIP code but are inside Torrance city limits. That means Torrance city services and, for most homes, Torrance Unified School District. A few streets are in Redondo Beach and Redondo Beach Unified. Always confirm the city and the school district for the exact address.
