Hermosa Beach Sand Section Homes for Sale

The Sand Section is the part of Hermosa Beach west of Valley Drive, closest to the ocean. It holds the Strand, the walk streets, the pier and downtown along Pier Avenue and Hermosa Avenue. If you picture a Hermosa morning with a walk to the beach and coffee on the way back, this is the area you are picturing.

Homes here are a real mix. You will find original beach cottages, two-on-a-lot townhomes, condos and new custom homes, plus homes right on the Strand. North of Pier Avenue leans more single-family, while the area south of Pier has more townhomes. Lots are small, so many homes are built up, with rooftop decks and ocean views from the top floor.

The tradeoffs are real too. Weekends downtown are busy, parking near the beach is tight, and some streets close to Pier Plaza get noise at night. Buyers who want quiet often look in North Hermosa or on the walk streets away from downtown.

Schools are the same as the rest of the city: Hermosa Beach City School District for TK through 8th grade, then a choice of Mira Costa or Redondo Union for high school.
